Monterrey

Monterrey is the capital of Nuevo León, in the North-East of Mexico and it's one of the most industrial metropolis in this country. This city is inspired by modern constructions thanks to its large avenues and the new buildings which contrast with the center of the peaceful city with its malls. In the center of the city is the Gran Plaza, different from the other Mexican places thanks to its architectural and decorative diversity (you can find there sculptures of various styles and times, ultramodern buildings who contrast with " the traditional "cathedral and all this is decorated gardens). Monterrey is surrounded by significant mountains such as Cerro de la Silla, symbol of the city. Its weather is very hot and very dryness and you can find there, in the mountains in altitude, a very abundant vegetation with a moderate climate.

This city, founded in 1596 by Diego de Montemayor, fell into a very great lethargy, until the North-American invasion of the city in 1846 and finally to be released in 1848 thanks to the Treaty of Guadalupe. A few years later, Mariano Escobedo succeeds in expelling the French who had sat in the city during a few years. Finally, Monterrey knew its apogee thanks to its industry of metallurgy and its immense Cuauhtémoc brewery.
